Large canopy of coarse branches with long green leaflets and edible nuts. Bark is heavily ridged and foliage turns bright yellow in fall. Drought tolerant once established in a moist, well-drained soil. We recommend planting in a location that has some shelter from the wind.

Please note: walnuts produce a substance called juglone in their roots, nut shells, and leaves. Juglone inhibits the growth of most fruit trees, and native species such as larch and pine, so you should choose your planting location carefully.
