This is a dwarf delphinium and best used for the front of the border, but also great to use in a container, as cut flowers, as an edging, and mass planting. This variety will thrive in cool climates. The flowers bloom early to mid-summer and form deep blue flowers with white centers. The foliage is lacy in texture and a lush green shade. It is a low ground growing variety and is short lived. The Summer Cloud belongs to the Summer series which is known for its profuse branching and dwarf sizes.

The Summer Cloud Delphinium will grow to be about 10 – 12 inches tall, and a spread of 12 inches wide. It grows at a medium rate. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, but not particular as to soil type or pH. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage repeat blooming. These perennials tend to be short-lived and often start to lose their vigor after 2 – 3 years.
