An Earthwalks Leadership Workshop is intended to introduce the Earthwalks as an interpretive immersive experience in nature. Earthwalks are a light and refreshing touch of nature for anyone from 9 to 90 years old who want to deepen their feelings of joy, reverence, kinship, and love for the natural world through sensory experiences. Lead by professional Experiential Interpretive Design professionals, Mike Mayer and Bill Reynolds at Prairie Gardens Farm and Forest.

An Earthwalk is made up of a series of four to six activities specially designed for a light and refreshing touch of nature that focuses on reawakening senses and sharpening perceptions in the natural world. During an Earthwalk the leader is the guide rather than the focal point…the focus is on the natural world and our feelings of joy, reverence, kinship and love for that world. There will be new ways to discover familiar things and interesting introductions to the unfamiliar as participants get to know the subtleties of micro-marvels, the worlds underfoot, and other overlooked wonders.
This workshop will focus on the leadership skills necessary to offer an Earthwalk that will flow from beginning to end. Workshop participants will be actively involved in several Earthwalks during the day, will experience a thorough analysis of one of the Earthwalks, and will design their own walk.
This workshop will provide you with an opportunity to:
- experience two model Earthwalks, one with an in-depth analysis of the leadership skills
- examine the materials and descriptions of several dozen Earthwalk activities
- present an Earthwalk you have designed incorporating the key elements of preparation, participation, organization, focus, pace, and flow
- learn the design criteria and goals of an Earthwalk and how this vehicle fits into the overall structure of earth education programs

- Earthwalks Leadership is a full day workshop from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
- Stay for a Fireside Chat with Clearthink Inc and Farm to Table Dinner 5:00pm - 8:30pm
- There are both indoor and outdoor sessions so participants should be prepared to be outdoors for an extended period of time.
