Released in 1999 by the University, Prairie Sun is extremely cold-hardy (zone 2a) and easy to grow. The fruit is everything you might want in an apple – crisp, juicy, relatively sweet and resistant to browning. Excellent for fresh eating, baking, cooking, or drying. As an added bonus, the tree itself is semi-dwarf. Ready to harvest in late August/early September

Requires another apple nearby for cross-pollination to improve yields. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil.
