Malus ‘Jefsey’
Pot size BR (4-6′), #5 (3-5′)
Prairie Magic is one of our hands-down favourite apples on the farm. Not only are the apples large, sweet, and abundant, but our trees have produced every single year in the decade since we’ve planted them. Apples start to ripen at the end of August (they’re so sweet you can still eat them fresh from the tree if they’re not fully ripe) and can be harvested until late September.
Dwarf Prairie Magic trees only grow 8′ tall to 6′ wide at maturity making them perfect for urban areas or high-density orchards.
A cross between the Goodland and Mantet. The apples grow to be medium to large – sized fruit that matures in Mid-September. The apples are a red blush overlay on yellow, and are a crispy texture. The apples are most often used for fresh eating, cooking, and baking.
This tree is typically grown in a designated area of the yard because of its mature size and spread. It should only be grown in full sunlight. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and shouldn’t be allowed to dry out. Requires another apple variety nearby to yield fruit.
