Malus domestica ‘Honeycrisp’
Pot size: #5
Introduced by the University of Minnesota in 1990. Great storage apple, winter hardy, and has a late bloom time.
This is a deciduous apple tree where the variety has been grafted onto rootstocks, and will grow to a height of about 8-10ft. This is a cold-hardy tree that is grown for its culinary capabilities. There are pure white flowers, during mid-spring, and is known for being scab resistant.
This tree does well in deep, loamy, medium moisture, and well-drained soil. The fruit formed are medium to large in size, a striped red over yellow skin, white fleshed, and has a crispy juicy taste. This tree requires another variety to pollinate. Great variety to pollinate with Empire, Gala, Red Delicious are some great suggestions.
