A deciduous perennial tree that is native to eastern North America. The American mountain-ash is also known as rowan trees. It is a relatively small tree that is an upright oval headed tree. This tree has fragrant clusters of white flowers in the spring time followed by red berries in the fall that will persist into the Winter. The foliage is dark green and will turn orange-red in the Fall.
The American Mountain Ash will get to a height of 23 – 26 ft, and a spread of 16 ft. Prefers a slightly acidic, moist, but well-drained soil. Do not let sit in standing water, as it is intolerant of wet soil.
