A later apple, Fireside is ready to harvest in mid October. The fruit is medium-large in size and best suited for fresh eating with an outstandingly sweet flavour and juiciness.  Not only is Fireside and extremely tasty apple, but its also an excellent keeper, storing until April – yes, you read that right – April! – in cold storage. Released in 1943 by the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station.

Requires another apple nearby for cross-pollination to improve yields. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil.
