Awarded the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society. It is an upright shrub with showy magenta panicles. This lilac blooms as a double bloom and is wonderfully fragrant. It is an early bloomer; blooming in late Spring. The large florets open above heart-shaped bluish green foliage. Great to use as a hedge/screen plant.

Prefers soil that is moist and well-drained. Great to use as fresh flowers or dried. Gets to a height of 10 ft and a spread of 6 ft. A variety of a species not originally from North America.
