Wild Birdfeeders, Winter & Snow at the Farm

Experience Winter on the Farm!

Learn about animals when you visit with the goats and sheep - what do they feel like, what sounds do they make, what do they eat? Discover active play in our snow mazes. Experience the seasonality of produce when you harvest corn, sunflowers, and other bits and bobs to make birdfeeders to take home. Warm up during story time and get creative when you decorate your cookie snack!

Dress for the outdoors - our winter program includes a blend of indoor and outdoor activities and outdoor play time requires snow pants, snow boots, hats, and mittens.

What's Included?

We believe in learning by doing and by creating opportunities for physical literacy, which our winter field trips reflect. See below for a sample list of activities included in our programs. We're also more than happy to customize our field trips to match your classroom goals - just let us know!

Guided 1.5 Hour Program $16/student + GST

• Petting Farm
• Train or Wagon Ride *weather dependent - tractors will not start when it is below -20*
• Snow Maze (corn, bale, or sunflower)
• Wild Bird Feeders (make & take home)
• Cookie Decorating & Story Time (decorate your cookies then eat them while listening to a story)
• Outdoor Games and Active Play Time. For example, Fox & Goose Trails.

Guided 2.5 Hour Program $20/student + GST

• Petting Farm

• Cookie Decorating & Story Time (decorate your cookies then eat them while listening to a story)
• Hot Chocolate & Marshmallows
• Outdoor Games and Active Play Time. For example, Fox & Goose Trails
• Snowshoe Trails
• Pea Shoots Planting activity (take home)
• Frightmare Before Christmas Haunted House *optional*

Please Note: There is a minimum booking fee of $300.00.

Cancellations must be received 7 days prior to your reservation in writing - email reserve@prairiegardens.org. No-shows with no written notice will be invoiced $300. Weather Policy - if it extremely cold (below -20) or blizzarding you can call the morning of your field trip to reschedule. Calls must be received before 8:45am.

WHAT IF IT SNOWS? Dress for the weather!!! We will do as many outdoor activities as the weather will allow. We also have indoor activities planned to warm up in between activities.
