2026 Apple Crop Report

September 12th Update:

We are in peak apple season - come and pick! Our Norkent, Prairie Magic, Odyssey, Fall Red, Dolgo, and Prairie Sensation apples are all ready to pick!! First come first pick.

We expect to still have apples the weekend of September 19th and 20th, but expect that will be our last weekend for apple picking.

Please make sure to wear appropriate footwear - we are a working farm! Also, bug spray is a must. There is grass between the apple rows.

The farm opens at 10:00am.

U-Pick Apples


How it Works

U-Pick Apples are available daily, starting at 10:00AM. Apple are first come, first pick. We recommend coming early, so you don't miss out! Once the apples are finished for the day, we will close the orchard.

Apples are In-Season Late August - Mid September. Call 780-921-2272 to confirm availability before coming.

Prices: We sell our apples by volume, not by weight. We provide buckets to pick into, and bags to take your apples home in. Pay for your apples at the Country Store when you are finished picking - cash, debit & credit accepted.

  • 4L Pail - $20.00/level pail (+$5.00 for heaping)
  • 1.5L Pail - $15.00/pail

Please note: The apple orchards are located at Prairie Gardens (56311 Lily Lake Rd, Sturgeon County). The orchard areas are intermixed with our activity areas - admission tickets are required to access the orchards.

  • $15 Voucher (use towards the apples that you pick). Extra vouchers, if any, can be used towards take-home farm experiences or vegetable u-pick.

  • Orchard U-Pick Tour, hourly

Our season runs from late August to Mid-September. We grow over 25 different kinds of apples for our u-pick. Not all varieties are ready at the same time and some are still too young to produce fruit.

Apples are first come, first pick - no reservations! We pick daily, starting at 10:00am. We recommend coming early for best apple selection.
Apples are limited. If you want to try one or try different kinds, you can pick a pail to sample; however, you must pay for your bucket first. After you pay, you can eat what you've picked to your heart's content!
Absolutely! Children love picking fruits & veggies. Plus, we have train rides, a petting farm, and playgrounds to enjoy at Prairie Gardens! We recommend a ratio of 1 adult:3 children. Children must be supervised while in the u-pick orchard.
Thank you for asking! Please leave your pets at home. They will not be allowed into the picking areas (health regulations) or the farm.
What's in season varies! We have planted a lot of vegetables in the garden this season! The following veggies are growing in the field for u-pick: peas, beans, kale, kohlrabi, dill, swiss chard, and broccoli.
A level 4L pail of apples is $20.00. A heaping 4L pail is $25.00. A 1.5L pail is $15.00.

Yes, admission is required for u-pick apples. 

Option 1: Purchase our U-Pick Pass, which includes a wristband that gives you access to the orchards. It also includes a $15 voucher, orchard tour (hourly), and ability (if you so choose) to enjoy a train ride, the haunted house, and petting farm.

Option 2: - Purchase General Admission tickets, which includes a wristband that gives you access to the orchards. It also includes two $5 vouchers per package, orchard tour (hourly), train rides, the haunted house, bale maze, playgrounds, petting farm, and picnic area.

Yes, you can purchase the u-pick pass online here or onsite at the farm.
  • Yes, a free picnic site is included with the U-Pick Pass and General Admission tickets. Picnic sites are located at Prairie Gardens (no picnic sites in the u-pick fields).
No - picnics are not permitted in the parking areas. You can purchase admission and enjoy your picnic at the farm (picnic tables included).
The U-Pick Orchards and other farm experiences are outside - so dress for the weather! There is grass in the orchards, but some areas can get muddy, especially if we've had rain recently. Sunscreen and hats are a marvelous idea for hot, sunny days. Good/comfortable footwear is a must! Don't forget the bug spray!
