A heritage, British variety, Red George is known for the large size of its berries, which have a pleasant balance of sweetness and tartness. Best suited for fresh eating, making jams and jellies, or for baking with. Fruit is ready mid season (mid/late summer) and hangs in clusters, making harvest easier. Relatively fewer thorns than other varieties.

Full sun to partial shade recommended. Needs good air circulation and regular pruning. Prefers well-drained soils.
