Part of the series of black currants developed by the Scottish Crop Research Institute, Ben Hope is the most vigorous grower of the Ben series, with the mature bush size reaching 5′ tall. It also has excellent resistance to galls, mildew and leaf spot. Heavy fruiting variety with medium-sized berries.

The flavour of the berries makes them highly sought for pies and jams, though for lovers of the classic black currant, they are good for fresh eating as well.
