Mentha x piperita ‘Chocolate’

Plant as an annual herb, or cover with 6″ of straw to overwinter. In our experience chocolate mint survives some winters, but not all, somewhat hardy when covered with straw.

Leaves are dark green, with an almost purple under hue. Chocolate Mint is so named because the flavour is somewhat reminiscent of the classic chocolate peppermint patties. Excellent mint to use in fruit desserts or to make tea blends.

Prefers full sun to part shade.

Mature Size: 12-18″ tall x 12-18″ wide
