Thiessen is known for its large berries of outstanding quality. Uneven fruit ripening characteristic. Berries average 17mm in diameter and are refreshingly sweet. Fruit typically ripens in early to mid July depending on the season. Excellent for fresh eating, baking, cooking, and making preserves.
Grown for its edible qualities though it also has ornamental merits, as well. The shrub is clothed in a stunning cluster of white flowers, dark green foliage, and yellow leaves in the Fall. This is a relatively low maintenance plant, but does best in average moist soil.
This is a species that is native to North America.
