Malus x ‘Yellow Transparent’

This is an early one – ripening in late July/early August, Yellow Transparent is our earliest fruiting apple! Known for its near-translucent yellow skin, this apple makes for excellent fresh eating (sharp, sweet flavour) and marvelous applesauce. Enjoy while in season, this variety doesn’t keep long! Originated in Latvia around 1850 and was imported to the USA in the 1870s.

Experimental in zone 3. We recommend planting in a sheltered location (minimal wind) that ideally gets significant snowfall. Not recommended for novice orchardists.

Though semi self-fertile, we recommend another apple nearby for cross-pollination to improve yields. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil.
