Prairie Gardens Celebrates National Tourism Week as Winner of Alberta’s 2026 Luminary Award for Agritourism Sturgeon County, Alberta

Prairie Gardens, one of Alberta’s longest running agritourism destinations, is celebrating its 70th anniversary and National Tourism Week by highlighting the vital role that farm-based tourism plays in rural economic development, food literacy, and community connection. This year’s celebration comes with special significance: Prairie Gardens owner Tam Andersen has been named the 2026 Luminary Award Winner for Agritourism Alberta, recognizing excellence, innovation, and leadership in the province’s growing agritourism sector.

Located in Sturgeon County, Prairie Gardens has welcomed gardeners, families, school groups, and visitors from across Canada for more than 70 years. The farm is known for its hands-on agricultural experiences, fruit tree nursery, U-pick berries and vegetables, educational programs, and seasonal farm festivals that showcase the beauty and bounty of Alberta’s prairie landscape.

As National Tourism Week shines a spotlight on the importance of tourism across Canada, Prairie Gardens is preparing for a vibrant 2026 season, including expanded U-Pick offerings, new hands-on workshops, and signature events designed to welcome visitors of all ages.
