Lonicera caerulea ‘Borealis’
Pot size #1, #2, #5
This University of Saskatchewan introduction produces blueberry-like fruit that ripens before Strawberries. Also known as Honeyberries or Blue Honeysuckle, Canadian Haskap are superior to any other Honeyberries with sweeter, wild Blueberry flavour and larger, fleshier fruit not unlike oversize Blueberries. The plant themselves are extremely cold tolerant and these are a great fruit alternative for cold climates. Cross-pollination is required.
Borealis is noted for yielding very large fruit with excellent flavour. Its fruit has a softer, more delicate fruit than Tundra. Borealis is an ideal option for U-Pick operations or for the home gardener.
Cross-pollinate with: Aurora, Honeybee, Indigo Gem, or Tundra
Borealis Haskap Berry
$19.95 – $54.95
Borealis is noted for yielding very large fruit with excellent flavour. Extremely hardy bushes bred at the University of Saskatchewan.
The Borealis produces large sweet berries which makes it a popular variety. It is a fast growing shrub and is cold hardy. It will produce a large number of fruit in as little as three years, but like the Haskap Tundra variety it does not self-pollinate well.
