Wisteria macrostachya ‘Blue Moon’
Pot size: #1, #2
Also known as the Kentucky Wisteria. It is one of the hardiest of all wisteria varieties. It is a stunning vine that is multi-stemmed, deciduous, woody, and has a trailing habit of growth. This vine is cold tolerant, and needs ample support and full sun. The ornamental features of the Blue Moon Wisteria showcase fragrant lavender pea-like flowers hanging below the branches, mid-spring, there is green foliage that starts out as a copperish-bronze color. Great to use as a hedge, or for general garden use.
This vine is great because of the stunning chains of lavender flowers that will bloom three times a year; a good choice to attract hummingbirds to your yard, and can be considered deer resistant.
Gets to a height of about 30 ft and a spread of 24 inches. It is a climbing vine and because it is a leggy vine near the base, so it should be underplanted with low-growing plants. It does need ample support so plant near either a fence or other landscape structure. It is not picky about soil type or pH, and does best in average to evenly moist conditions. Ensure that the roots are not cold, so apply thick mulch around the root zone in the Wintertime.
