A slow-growing, long-lived tree, the Inferno Sugar Maple is an ideal addition for anyone who is craving a fiery display of autumn colour in the fall.  The Inferno Sugar Maple has the traditional 5-point maple leaf that is green through the spring and summer, but turns an exceptional red-orange colour in the fall.

Should be planted in protected or sheltered location with rich, well-drained soil.

The Western Nursery Growers Group (WNGG) ran a tree trial from 2008-2016 (8 years) and developed a recommended tree list that was based on those results. The Inferno Sugar maple is the only sugar maple that is recommended for Alberta North (Edmonton). Trees that are recommended sustained no more than 10% winter kill, good disease and pest resistance, and to be well adapted to prairie soils.

The Inferno Sugar Maple is not recommended for Alberta South (Strathmore) – which means it sustained more than 50% winter kill over the trial period, but is also recommended for the other two trial zones – Portage la Prairie, MB (Manitoba South) and Saskatoon, SK (Saskatchewan & Central Manitoba).
