Euphorbia Epithymoides ‘Cushion Spurge’
Pot size #1
Commonly called Cushion Spurge, which is a mounding, clump-forming perennial. It is most often used as being best for borders. Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit, in 1993, by the Royal Horticultural Society. It is easy to care for, resilient to most pests and diseases. This plant is long lived and incredibly showy. It grows in an attractive dome shaped and bears dense, flattened golden-yellow flowers with chrome-yellow bracts at the ends of the stems from mid to late Spring. It is one of the few perennials to have a showy fall foliage. The foliage that started off as being medium green turns to a striking red, purple, or orange in the Fall. Typically grows up to 12 – 18 inches tall and 30 – 45 cm wide.
The Cushion Spurge grows at a medium rate. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist growing conditions, but does not do well with standing water, hence considered to be drought-tolerant. It is not particular as to soil pH, but loves sandy soils the best. It is good choice for the garden, but also a good selection for planting in outdoor pots and containers. Ensure that you are pruning after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season’s flowers. A great selection for our Northern gardens.
