Vaccinium ‘Northland’
Pot size #1, #2
Developed in Michigan as being the hardiest of the highbush Blueberries. In comparison to the Northblue it has a mid-to-late harvest. This is a hybrid variety that was bred for it ability to be in sub-zero climates. The berries that are produced are medium sized, dark blue, have a wild berry taste, and have a large yield. Aside from its edible qualities during the Fall the leaves will become a Scarlet-red colour, and in Spring will have blue-green foliage with white flowers.
The Northland can self-pollinate, but has a better yield with cross-pollination. Little pruning is necessary. Able to withstand the snow loads of colder climates.Preference to moist acidic soil.
