Rubus idaeus ‘red mammoth’
Pot size: BR Pkg 5, #1
This variety was introduced by the University of Saskatchewan, and is known for having semi-thornless canes. The berries that are formed are record-size, rich red, super sweet, and will be ready to harvest late June to mid July. Because of its high yields, versatile fruit, and semi-thornless upright canes this variety will make for easy picking. The vines will grow 6-8 ft tall, and so will require some kind of support system.
Self-pollinating. Best planted in organic, well-drained, slightly acidic, sandy loamy soil, and kept moist.
