Bearing very large fruit, Rovada is known for both being highly productive and for the excellent flavour of its berries, which tends to be quite sweet compared to other varieties of currants. Rovada originated in the Netherlands and is best suited for fresh eating, or processing into jam or jelly.

This plant is self-fertile (does not require a second plant) and is also notable for its resistant to leafspot.
