Introduced from Saskatchewan. In comparison to the other Mayday trees it is more upright and dwarf sized. The leaves of this Mayday are reddish-purple and has long racemes of pink blooms, while in the Fall there are tiny black ornamental berries.

Tolerates poor soils, but prefers a moist well-drained soil. It is a deciduous tree that can grow up to 33 ft. The Mayday tree is a species of cherry, native to northern Europe and northern Asia.
