Introduced in 1938 as a novelty French Lilac hybrid. It is a unique lilac known for its single purple flowers that has a white border. A fragrant bloom. This upright shrub is vigorous, dense, and has heart-shaped, bluish-green foliage that will turn yellow in the Fall. Great to use as a massed, hedge, or screen plant. Is a early blooming lilac.

Prefers soil that is moist and well-drained. Great to use as fresh flowers or dried. Gets to a height of 10 ft and a spread of 8 ft. A variety of a species not originally from North America.
