First discovered in the wild in 1999 by Robert Gordon, Charlotte Cooper, and Andrew Thomas near Osceola, Missouri, the Bob Gordon elderberry has stood the test of time.
With its production of large berries that ripen evenly within clusters, the Bob Gordon Elderberry is one of the most popular elderberries available. Berries are dark purple-black when ripe and can be used to make wine and jam.
Plant in a sheltered location with ample snowfall. Adding 1-3′ of mulch around base is recommended in the fall to help overwinter. Not recommended for novice gardeners.
