The Native Gooseberry (also known as the Canadian Gooseberry) has a mild and sweet flavour, which makes it ideal for fresh eating, baking (especially pies), and making jams or jellies. First Nations have historically used this fruit in preserves while also using the roots for medicinal purposes. The bush itself grows quite vigorously and has thorny branches.
This variety is self fertile and does not require a second plant for cross-pollination.
