Dating back to the 1800s, the Clove Currant is a worthy addition to any currant-lover’s garden or orchard. This currant is unique in appearance when compared to other black currants – it has distinctive lobed leaves and grows a whopping 6-8′ tall (whereas most currants stay between 3-4′ in height).

The Clove currant gets its name from its flowers, which emit a tantalizing clove-like fragrance. The berries are large, averaging between 1/2″ to 3/4″ – the size of a small grape!! – and have a sweet, somewhat spicy flavour. Very productive.

Native to North America. Shade Tolerant. Self-fertile.
