Though Native saskatoons may not produce berries as large as some of the cultivars, they are extremely productive (lots of berries) and rock-solid hardy through Albertan winters. Added to which, their berries are scrumptiously sweet and perfect for fresh eating, baking pies with, or making jams.

Hardy native shrub with leathery, green foliage and cream-white spring blooms which mature to edible black fruit and orange fall foliage. Self-fertile. Maximum berry production in full sun. Drought tolerant once established in a moist, well-drained soil.
