Osmundastrum cinnamomea
Pot Size:#1
A native species, the Cinnamon Fern naturally grows in wetland areas, such as swamps and on the edges of bogs. Needless to say it needs to be planted in a location with moist/wet soil! Cinnamon ferns owe their name to their fertile fronds, which are a rich cinnamon-brown colour, contrasting beautifully with their green foliage.
Unique to the Cinnamon Fern, its fiddleheads are covered with white or red woolly hairs. They also have pale cinnamon-coloured tufts of hair on the underside of its leaflets.
This fern would do best planted in a partial-shade or full shade area. Cinnamon ferns can grow in full sun, only if they are in standing water continually.
This fern is an excellent feature to cultivate near ponds or in water gardens.
