Prunus virginiana ‘Robert’
Developed by Lloyd Lee of Barrhead, Alberta, Robert Chokecherries are known for their heavy yields of large – almost grape-like in size – berries. Fruit is sweet when compared to other chokecherry varieties. Berries make excellent wine, jams, and jellies, and can also be eaten fresh. Though berries are initially green, they turn a deep purple-red when ripe.
Robert Chokecherries are also known for their attractive red foliage, similar to Schubert Chokecherries.
Mature Size: 10′ tall by 8-10′ wide.
