Originating from Russia, Duchess Oldenburg dates back to the early 18th century and produces an medium-sized early-season apple. Introduced to North America in the early 19th century, this variety may be an ancestor of the variety known as Northern Spy.

Duchess of Oldenburg is excellent for making cider, baking with – it especially makes a nice zesty pie – and for tart fresh eating.

Dwarf rootstock – will only grow 8-9′ tall by 5′ wide at maturity.
