Ready in mid-September, Viking will keep until October in cold storage. Known for its unique flavour – sweet-tart with hints of rose and lychee! – Viking is a great all around apple. Best suited for fresh eating, baking, applesauce, cider, juicing, and cooking with. This variety is susceptible to scab, though growers have continually grown it since it was released because of its excellent flavour and many uses. Released in 1969 from the Wisconsin Agricultural Experiment Station.

Requires another apple nearby for cross-pollination to improve yields. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil.
