A fine balance of tart and sweet, with a hint of spice, the flavour of Red Wonder makes it good for fresh-eating, and excellent for pies. (Not to mention how gosh-darned fabulous the pie looks). This apple can store up to a month in cold storage, making it a keeper, and it’s often used to make cider, especially because its rich redness colours the cider naturally. And! It’s zone 2, making it ideal for northern orchards and the prairies. If that wasn’t enough, its dark leaves are tinged silver, making the tree itself quite striking.
