The Festiva Maxima is an award-winning Peony and for a good reason. The bloom of this Peony is large (5-7 inches wide), fragrant, pure white, bloom in double flowers, frilly petals, and occasionally the white petals are flecked with crimson red. This is an early midseason peony and will bloom approximately for 7-10 days. The blooms form on strong stems, and make an excellent cut flower. Reliable and vigorous, this peony grows in a lush, bushy mound of glossy, deep green, divided foliage reaching up to 36 inches in height.

Peonies are virtually pest free. Very useful and adaptable in the garden. Perfect to use a specimen plant, borders, ned, city gardens , or cottage gardens. Plant your peony away from trees and shrubs so that they don’t compete for food and moisture. Low maintenance. Best time to plant peonies is in early fall.

Prefers soil that is chalk, clay, loam, or sandy. Enjoys full sun or partial shade in rich, fertile, and well-drained soils. Provide a sheltered location. Staking may be required as the large Peony flowers tend to arch toward the ground and may be driven to the ground by heavy rain. Low maintenance but remove spent flowers and cut back plants after the foliage has died down in Fall. They are virtually carefree once established.
