A compact shrub that has thorny branches; it is dense and multi-stemmed with a mounded form. The foliage is a beautiful rich velvety red color and tiny yellow blooms. During the Fall the foliage will become a darker shade of red along with sterile ornamental berries that are winter hardy. Great to use as a garden border.

Prefers soil that is acidic and well-drained. Drought tolerant once established. This is a relatively low maintenance shrub, and should not require much pruning.
