Developed by Elmer Swenson, and is a French/American grape hybrid. The Prairie Star is a light green grape that has a nice flavour that is described has having a good balance of sweetness and acidity. The skin of the grapes are thick. Known for its edible quality and makes a delicious juice/wine. Cold climate hardy to -40 Celsius. It is a vigorous grower and is moderately productive.

Self-pollinating variety, but more than one type will improve your harvest. It will start bearing fruits in 3-4 years, and usually ready to harvest around late September.
