The Ohio Buckeye also known as the American buckeye or the fetid buckeye. It is a medium-sized deciduous tree that only grows to be about 30 FT tall. The leaves of the tree are palmately compound and are long and broad. The flowers are produced in panicles that vary in color from red, yellow, to yellow-green. There are large brown seed capsules and are poisonous if ingested.
The Ohio buckeye is the state tree of Ohio, and its name is an original term of endearment for the pioneers on the Ohio frontier. Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions.
