Pickling Workshop

Come by the farm this Sunday, August 16th for a make-your-own pickling workshop!

You’ll learn how to pickle using Prairie Gardens’ seasonal farm-fresh vegetables on the farm they were grown on. Benjamin Perez, master of fermentation, will teach you: safe pickling basics, pickling recipes, and tricks of the trade! Go home with your own jar of pickles, a jar of blossom-infused vinegar, and some quick pickles to enjoy!

Chef Benjamin Perez comes from Toronto and has worked for the last 12 years in the restaurant industry. His love of food stems from his parents and his Jewish Moroccan roots. Currently Chef Ben works for Braven at the JW Marriott in downtown Edmonton, and runs his own Artisan Bread Company, Benny’s Bread and Butter. 

Benjamin’s culinary interests include fermentations of any kind, pickles, and of course sourdough bread. He takes pride in making his own special batches of monthly Kombucha experimenting with new flavour combinations and techniques. Kimchi, hot sauce, pickled ramps and garlic scapes are some of his favorite things to create and talk about. But most importantly, this master fermenter is known for his incredibly decadent fermented cultured butter which has quickly become a staple in many of his loved ones kitchens.
